YiEvent is based in London; the stage of world cultures. It focuses on the development of Asian culture in the UK, as well as collaboration with local industries and communities. We create colourful cultural events for Asian people here in the UK, including screen-industry forums, film festivals, film screenings, film premieres, cultural festivals, and other activities.

UK Chinese Filmmaker Event 2022

The first event presented by YiEvent was UK Chinese Filmmaker Event 2022.

 

Three Chinese film experts who work in the UK-China industry were invited to our event as guest speakers, discussing industry trends, and sharing practical experience from film development, co-production and distribution.


Four outstanding short films were shown by four young Chinese filmmakers who study in the UK, following discussion panels by the guest speakers and filmmakers of the selected shorts.

 

The audience had an opportunity to ask our panellists questions and participated in the post-event networking.

Stardance Animation Festival 2023

YiEvent co-presented Stardance Animation Festival, which made its return to London cinemas in 2023!

In pursuit of bringing Asian and European animation together to the UK, we showcased a list of award-winning and Oscar-nominated animations made by Asian and European animators.

 

The festival lasted 9 days and hosted 9 screenings at several London cinemas.

The selected animation films were:

Panel: Starting Your Career
in Animation

YiEvent co-organised an industry panel about animation, aiming to introduce women's careers in the animation industry and to give guidance to animation and VFX students.


We invited 3 female animation experts to share their industry experiences.

Screening: Documentary "The Sheng Player"

YiEvent organised a screening event for the documentary “The Sheng Player”, directed and produced by popular mixed-raced influencer Toto Guo, telling the story of his Chinese father Guo Yi‘s 30-year journey from China to the UK as a musician.


It became the biggest private screening event we held in 2023. We hit way over 500 audience members, people standing at the back, sitting in the aisle, with both tears, laughter and love!

Premiere: Animation Film "Boonie Bears"

For two consecutive years, YiEvent assisted in bringing the largest Chinese animation film series ”Boonie Bears“ to cinemas in the UK and Ireland, bringing a fresh animation experience to British kids and families!

Film event: "After Hours Filmmaking - Balancing Careers and Creativity" 

YiEvent organised the film event  "After Hours Filmmaking - Balancing Careers and Creativity" in 2024. We invited the filmmakers to share their filmmaking experiences and creative journeys in the UK.
With over 30 attendees, it was a fantastic evening filled with wonderful short films and insightful discussions.

Our past cultural festivals

Mid-Autumn Festival Feast in London 2021

Taste of Chongqing restaurant in London invited YiEvent to organize the 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival Feast at its venue.  

The feast included a Chinese hotpot dinner and performances such as a classic lion dance, Sichuan "face-changing", and traditional instrumentalists and dances.

We were pleased to have 120 attendees to celebrate the feast together, including honourable guest Mayor of Camden Sabrina Francis.

UK China Southwest Association's National Day Gala 2022

UK China Southwest Association put YiEvent in charge of its National Day Gala in 2022. The gala served as a platform to engage attendees and foster meaningful connections between China and the UK.

 

The Gala was attended by over 120 distinguished guests from both China and the UK, including Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK Jiang Lei, Deputy Mayor of Camden Nazma Rahman, Chairman of the London Chinatown Chinese Association Deng Zhuting, representative of UK Chinese Business Association Zhong Xiaopin,  and mainstream Chinese press & TV such as Phoenix CNE TV and The Chinese Weekly.

Lantern Festival Charity Gala in London 2023

UK Chongqing Business Association and Camden Council put YiEvent in charge of the Lantern Festival Charity Gala in 2023.

The gala was organized to raise funds for Hopscotch, the official charity of the Mayor of Camden CLLR Nasim Ali OBE. Guests had the opportunity to bid on exclusive items generously donated by sponsors and partners.

The event brought together over 130 esteemed guests from various sectors to support a worthy cause, while enjoying an evening of exquisite performances and fine dining. The guests included:

Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK Jiang Lei, Mayor of Camden Nasim Ali OBEMP for Bolton North East Mark Logan, Chairman of the London Chinatown Chinese Association Deng Zhuting, Co-Founder of Akram Khan Company Farooq Chaudhry OBE, Director of Community Relations & Public Affairs for LabTech Abdul Hai OBE, and representatives from other Chinese business associations and communities.

London Camden Market
Chinese New Year Celebration 2025

YiEvent co-organized Camden Market’s first-ever Chinese New Year Celebration on February 1st, 2025, marking a milestone event in the heart of London. The festival brought the rich traditions of Chinese New Year to life, featuring an exciting lineup of activities, including cultural performances, a Chinese marketplace, traditional crafts workshops, costume parades, large-scale festive art installations, and even a Chinese-themed waterbus cruise along the canal.

The event was an overwhelming success, drawing over 5,000 attendees, including local residents, international tourists, and distinguished guests from both China and the UK. Esteemed guests included Liyan Li, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, the Mayor of Camden, and leaders from Camden Market, underscoring the event’s significance as a bridge between cultures and a vibrant celebration of Chinese heritage.
